TOURNAMENT RULES

Normal FA rules apply other than the following: -

Pitch Rules: -

(i) Offside – There will be no offside.

(ii) When the ball goes out of play a normal throw in will be taken. A goal may not

be scored directly from a throw in. Goal kicks may be taken from anywhere

within the penalty area. When a free kick, goal kick or corner kick is taken

opposing players must be at least 2 metres from the ball.

(iii) For Under 7s and Under 8s, throws ins CAN be replaced with roll ins.

(iv) Goalkeepers are not allowed drop kicks. If they do then they must retake.

Goalkeepers must roll the ball into play with an underarm action.

(v) Only 5 players for U7s, U8s, 7 players for U9s to U12s and 6 for U13, U14, U16s

and Ladies from each side are allowed on the pitch at any point of play, but any

number of substitutes may be used when there is a stop in play, with the

permission of the referee. Any player substituted may re-enter the game.

(vi) Sliding tackles are not allowed and will result in direct free kick. If a non-contact

sliding tackle occurs inside the penalty, then the outcome is a direct free kick

from the penalty area line, parallel with the goal line at the nearest point to the

offence.

(vii) All free kicks will be direct.

(viii) For Under 7s to Under 10s at goals kicks the opposition shall withdraw to the

halfway line.

Appropriate footwear must be used. SHINGUARDS ARE MANDATORY and any player seen not wearing

them will be sent from the pitch by the referee.

The duration of all matches will be 12 minutes (10 minutes for U7s and U8s) with NO half time interval.

If the pitch favours one side, then the referee can decide to officiate 2 halves of 6 minutes (5 minutes

for U7s and U8s) with an immediate turnaround at half time.

Points will be awarded as follows: Win = 3 points, Score Draw = 2 points, No Score Draw = 1 point. A

bye will be recorded as a 2-0 victory.

During the knockout stages, in the event of a draw at the end of normal time extra time will be played,

this will consist of one half of 3 minutes of football. If the game is still level at the end of extra time,

then a penalty shootout will decide the result. For Under 7s and Under 8s there will be NO extra time.

Each team will take 3 penalties each, the penalty takers must be on the pitch at the end of extra time,

and substitutions cannot be made at this point. If scores remain level, then a sudden death penalty

shootout will take place using a player who has not yet taken a penalty and who was on the pitch at

the end of extra time.

Qualification for the knockout stages will depend on the number of qualifying groups within the age

group. Please see individual age group fixtures to see how many teams qualify for the next round. If

two teams are equal on points at the conclusion of the group stage, the decision on which team will

progress will be decided in the following way:

(i) The team that has scored the most goals will progress – if still equal

(ii) The team with most wins will progress – if still equal

(iii) The results between the equal teams only – if still equal

(iv) A penalty shoot-out will commence

The team named first will provide the Match Ball. Balls should be size 3 for U7s to U10s and size 4 for

U11s to U14s and size 5 for U16s and Ladies

Where team colours clash, the team named second will change.

The referee will report the outcome of the match via the tournify app.
